Current opportunity
Research & Stakeholder Engagement
Location: In-country (DRC) · Type: Full-time · Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Tellurian Research is a boutique, AI-augmented intelligence firm covering complex, high-stakes markets. Our flagship practice covers the Democratic Republic of Congo and the critical-minerals sector. (See our About page for the full picture of how we work.)
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced, well-connected, locally based individual to be our Country Manager and our presence on the ground in the DRC. This person will help build and maintain relationships across the sector, liaise with local stakeholders and partners, and feed timely, accurate local insight back to our team.
The role spans more than mining. We need someone who reads the country as a whole — its politics, security, regulatory environment, and the wider geopolitical currents shaping the DRC — and can translate that into the context our clients need.
This is a relationship-driven role for someone who understands how the DRC actually works — formally and informally — and who can move credibly among the people who shape it.
Initially, you’ll be our only person in-country. This is a role for a self-sufficient operator who can set their own priorities, work independently against deadlines, and deliver reliably without day-to-day supervision. As the business grows on the ground, the role is expected to grow with it.
What you’ll do
- Provide geopolitical and country-level intelligence — political, security, regulatory, and economic developments — and the context behind them, beyond the mining sector alone.
- Help conduct Tellurian’s field research across the DRC mining and critical-minerals sector.
- Build and maintain a network of relationships across the sector — operators, local officials, regulatory bodies, cooperatives, logistics and service providers, and community-level stakeholders.
- Gather and verify ground-level information on operational, regulatory, commercial, and local political developments.
- Provide regular, structured reporting to the team, and respond to specific information requests on agreed timelines.
- Provide local context and validation that helps our analysts interpret developments accurately.
- Represent Tellurian professionally and discreetly in-country.
What you bring
- Deep familiarity with the DRC, with an emphasis on its mining and critical-minerals sector and its wider political, security, and regulatory landscape, and how the country operates on the ground.
- An established network of relationships across the sector, and the ability to build new ones quickly.
- Strong field-research and relationship-management skills; credible and comfortable engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
- Reliability, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Fluent French and strong English.
- Based in the DRC with the ability to travel domestically to key sites and provinces.
Strong pluses
- Existing relationships with regulatory bodies, cooperatives, or sector institutions; and a background in mining, journalism, research, logistics, or a related field that builds local knowledge.
- Ability to travel abroad (UAE, Europe).

AI Engineering & Automation — Remote
Location: Remote · Type: Full-time · Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Tellurian Research is a boutique, AI-augmented intelligence firm covering complex, high-stakes markets. See our About page for the full picture of how we work.
About the role
We are looking for an AI Automation Expert to build the AI systems at the core of our hybrid intelligence model — proprietary agents and pipelines that continuously monitor and analyze thousands of sources across multiple languages, identify emerging developments, detect hidden relationships, monitor corporate networks, and surface signals that manual research alone would miss.
You will design and build LLM-based agents, retrieval systems, and automation pipelines that ingest regulatory filings, disclosures, publications, media, legal documents, and open-source material; extract and structure what matters; flag developments in real time; and draft first-pass analysis for our analysts to verify — dramatically expanding what a small expert team can evaluate.
This is a fully remote, hands-on building role for a self-sufficient operator who can set their own priorities, work independently against deadlines, and deliver reliably without day-to-day supervision. As the firm grows across industries and geographies, the role is expected to grow with it.
What you’ll do
- Design and build AI agents and automation pipelines that continuously monitor thousands of multi-language sources — regulatory filings, corporate disclosures, government publications, local media, legal documents, industry data, and open-source intelligence.
- Build LLM-based workflows for extraction, summarization, classification, translation, and first-pass analysis, with retrieval (RAG) over our internal knowledge base.
- Build systems that detect emerging developments, hidden relationships, and corporate networks, and provide real-time early-warning monitoring.
- Automate repetitive research and reporting tasks so analysts can focus on judgment and insight rather than manual collection.
- Integrate multiple tools, APIs, and data sources into reliable, maintainable systems that generalize across new sectors and markets as coverage expands.
- Build in quality controls — evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and source attribution — so outputs are accurate and traceable, with clear handling of hallucination.
- Work with the analyst team to identify where automation adds the most value, and iterate quickly on their feedback.
What you bring
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs — prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, and orchestration frameworks.
- Strong software engineering skills, with fluency in Python and comfort integrating APIs, tools, and data sources into production-grade systems.
- Experience building automation and data-ingestion pipelines, including web scraping and handling unstructured and multilingual content.
- A practical, results-driven approach — you ship working systems and improve them iteratively rather than over-engineering.
- Sound judgment about the limits of AI, and rigor about accuracy, evaluation, and source attribution.
- Reliability, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Strong English; able to work independently in a remote, distributed team.
Strong pluses
- Experience with workflow-automation platforms and orchestration tooling.
- Experience deploying and monitoring AI systems in production, including cost and latency optimization.
- Experience with multilingual processing and translation pipelines.
- Familiarity with intelligence, research, journalism, due-diligence, or risk-monitoring workflows.
- Familiarity with emerging / frontier markets; working French.

Data Science & Analytics — Remote
Location: Remote · Type: Full-time · Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Tellurian Research is a boutique, AI-augmented intelligence firm covering complex, high-stakes markets. See our About page for the full picture of how we work.
About the role
We are looking for a Data Scientist to build the data and modeling backbone of our hybrid intelligence process — turning thousands of multi-language sources (regulatory filings, corporate disclosures, government publications, local media, legal documents, industry data, and open-source intelligence) into structured, decision-ready signals for our analysts and clients.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role. You will source and structure data, build models and analytical pipelines, map corporate networks and hidden relationships, and surface the signals our analysts turn into judgment. You will build methods that generalize as we move into new sectors and markets, rather than one-off solutions tied to a single industry.
This is a fully remote role for a self-sufficient operator who can set their own priorities, work independently against deadlines, and deliver reliably without day-to-day supervision. As the firm grows across industries and geographies, the role is expected to grow with it.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain pipelines that collect, clean, and structure data from diverse, multi-language sources — regulatory filings, corporate registries, government publications, local media, legal documents, industry data, and open-source intelligence.
- Develop analytical and statistical models to detect patterns, anomalies, relationships, and early-warning signals across sectors and markets.
- Build entity-resolution and network analyses that map companies, owners, counterparties, and relationships across fragmented, inconsistent, and multilingual records.
- Design analytical frameworks that generalize across industries and geographies as coverage expands beyond critical minerals and the DRC.
- Produce clear, well-founded outputs — dashboards, visualizations, and written findings — that our analysts and clients can act on.
- Work with the analyst team to translate open intelligence questions into tractable analytical problems, and to validate results against regional ground truth.
- Assess data quality and be transparent about confidence, limitations, and assumptions.
What you bring
- Strong applied data-science and analytics skills, with fluency in Python and its data stack (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn, and common visualization tools).
- Solid grounding in statistics and machine learning, and sound judgment about when a simple approach beats a complex one.
- Experience working with messy, incomplete, real-world data — ideally across multiple languages and source types — and turning it into something reliable.
- Comfort working with a range of data types, including tabular and unstructured text.
- The ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical analysts and clients.
- Reliability, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Strong English; able to work independently in a remote, distributed team.
Strong pluses
- Experience with NLP, entity resolution, or building knowledge graphs from unstructured text.
- Experience with multilingual data and machine translation.
- Experience with geospatial or satellite/remote-sensing data.
- Familiarity with intelligence, due diligence, political or regulatory risk, corporate networks, commodities, or emerging / frontier markets.
- Working French.
